Overview
Cellular Jail, often referred to as Kala Pani (“Black Water”), is a historic prison located on South Andaman Island, part of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in India. It is renowned for its historical significance and the harsh conditions endured by prisoners.
Built between 1896 and 1906 by the British colonial administration, Cellular Jail was designed to house political prisoners, revolutionaries, and criminals who opposed British rule in India.
